2013 Week 12 5* NFL Pick: GIANTS -2.5 4* 49ers -5.5

[Cowboys/GIANTS] Outscoring their opponents by 8 in allowing their opponents only 14.8 ppg, The Giants are 4-1 ATS in their last five games. The defense will need to slow Romo, who has powered 12 TD passes and a 117.7 rating in his last four meetings with the G Men, and a Cowboys team that is 9-3 ATS in Week 12. With its leading receivers all averaging over 14 yards per catch, look for the Giants to go to the air early against a Cowboys defense that is allowing over 313 passing yards per game.

[49ers/REDSKINS] Averaging an amazing 27.8 and 425 yards per game in the last five games, the Redskins are 2-3 ATS during the run in being outscored by nearly 6 ppg. Outscoring their opponents by 10 points per game in their last five games, look for Kaepernick, 81.8 rating, 6 yards per carry, to go for broke, and carve up a Redskins defense that is allowing nearly 390 yards per game.

  1. LOSER – Cowboys 24, GIANTS 21 – East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) – Tony Romo engineered a late scoring drive culminating in Dan Bailey’s 35-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the Dallas Cowboys to a 24-21 victory over the New York Giants in a key NFC East clash at a chilly MetLife Stadium. Romo threw a pair of touchdown passes to Jason Witten earlier in the contest and finished with 250 yards and an interception on a 23-of-38 completion rate. His best work, however, came after taking over at his own 20 with 4:45 left to play and the Giants having scored 15 straight points to forge a 21-21 tie. Dez Bryant came up with three catches on the deciding series as part of a 9-reception, 102-yard effort, while safety Jeff Heath returned a fumble for a touchdown to help move Dallas (6-5) into a first-place tie with Philadelphia in the NFC East and complete a season sweep of its division rival. Eli Manning put up two touchdown passes of his own to rally New York (4-7) back from a 21-6 third-quarter deficit, but his team’s defense couldn’t hold down the stretch and the Giants saw their four-game win streak come to an end. Andre Brown amassed 127 yards on 21 carries for New York, while Manning totaled 174 yards on 16-of-30 passing.

  2. WINNER – 49ers 27, REDSKINS 6 – Landover, MD (SportsNetwork.com) – Forget about winning the NFC West, the San Francisco 49ers are just hoping to stay in the playoff hunt. Colin Kaepernick shook off his woes and helped the 49ers get back on track by outdueling another young struggling zone-read quarterback. Kaepernick threw two of his three touchdown passes to Anquan Boldin and eclipsed the 200-yard passing mark for the first time in more than a month as the 49ers took down the Washington Redskins 27-6 on Monday night. Kaepernick was 15-of-24 for 235 yards, and Boldin totaled 94 yards receiving on five receptions as the 49ers (7-4) snapped a two-game losing streak to move into a tie with the Arizona Cardinals for the sixth and final playoff spot in the NFC. Kaepernick hadn’t topped the 200-yard mark since throwing for 252 yards in a 32-20 victory over the Cardinals on Oct. 13. It was just the third time this year he’s gone over 200 yards passing. Kaepernick, who averaged 15.7 yards a completion, hadn’t completed a pass over 17 yards during the brief losing skid. Robert Griffin III completed 17-of-27 passes for 127 yards with an interception for Washington (3-8), which has dropped three in a row.
